What’s in the name?

Est Est Alea. The name means “The Die is Cast” in Latin, and brings with it the synonymous feeling that our newly renovated home in Parktown North is entrenched.

Dario has worked in and owned various eating establishments over a period of nearly 30 years. The name was born out of the fact that this is the pinnacle and “final resting place” for Dario, but also that it is Latin colloquial for “It is Cube”. Essentially, paying hommage to to fact that the essence of Cube is still alive.

It is a culmination of nearly 30 years that Dario has been in the industry. During this time he has been fortunate enough to have understood all the nuances that come with ensuring a fine dining experience. And so, to this point his latest venture – Est Est Alea, brings all the knowledge and understanding together to provide this perfect fine dining experience.

The new space has been nearly a year in the making, with every aspect of it thought out in great detail. From the layout of seating, to the dishes on the daily changing tasting menu and each wine that is stocked in our wine collection.

We have also introduced a Coravin system, allowing us to serve all our wines in our wine collection by the glass. Or if you’re unsure of which wine to select with your meal, and you decide not to have our wine paring option, we’re more than happy to give you a taster to help you make your decision.
